Peirce Island
The island is 27 acres in size and is owned by the city of Portsmouth. It separates the Piscataqua River from the "South End" of Portsmouth. It holds many aesthetic views including salt marshes, tidal pools, rocky cliffs, and meadows. There are also several activities such as outdoor pool, walking paths, playgrounds, and boat launches.

State Fish Pier: No restrictions – Open
Public Boat Launch: No restrictions. Open seasonally.
Four Tree Island Parking Lot: Closed for expansion prior to the Outdoor Pool Season.
Four Tree Island : No restrictions - Open.
Off-leash Dog Area: Open -- stick to trails and avoid fenced areas. NOTE: On Wednesday, Dec 4, 2024 (and possibly into Thursday, Dec 5) work on the Waste Water Treatment Facility odor control system will require the closure of part of the trail. Please observe posted signs. P
Peirce Island Outdoor Pool Access: Currently Unrestricted – Open seasonally.
Can I bring my dog to Peirce Island? Yes.
- Map of designated off-leash areas: please stick to marked trails and avoid fenced-off areas. Work continues to improve access and parking.
