Hit and Run Accident - Woodbury Avenue

On August 16, 2019, at approximately 1:05AM, the Portsmouth Police Department received a 911 call reporting a female lying in the roadway on Woodbury Avenue. Patrol units responded and located an unconscious female subject evidencing serious injuries. She was transported to the Portsmouth Hospital where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with life threatening injuries.
Information obtained during our at-scene investigation indicates the incident likely occurred in the area of Verizon Wireless at 1840 Woodbury Avenue. Additionally, it would appear that the female subject was struck by a motor vehicle. At the time of this release, the identity of the injured female remains unknown. She is described to be white, between the ages of 25-35, of average height and build with dirty blonde or light brown hair. She was wearing a white t-shirt and black leggings.
This case is currently being investigated by the Investigative Division of the Portsmouth Police Department. We received on-scene assistance by the New Hampshire State Police – Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Unit.
