Arson Arrest

On October 19th at 2:14 AM, the Portsmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to Prescott Park for a Ford F-350 dump body truck that was fully engulfed in flames. Evidence on scene suggested that the fire was intentionally set. Fire Investigators from both the Police and Fire Departments processed the scene for evidence. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of the following individual:

Stephen P. Denault

Age 32

No fixed address

Denault was charged with the following crimes:

Arson; class B Felony

Criminal Mischief; class B Felony

Theft from a Motor Vehicle; class A Misdemeanor

Default of Bail Conditions; class A Misdemeanor

Electronic Bench Warrant

The Default of Bail Conditions charge resulted from Denault currently being out on bail for allegedly stealing a work truck from Peirce Island over the weekend of September 21st, 2019, and also for being out on bail for Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property, and Breach of Bail in Merrimack County.

Denault was held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Rockingham County Court today.
