Subject Arrested Following Portsmouth Standoff

At approximately 8:15 AM on April 20th, 2020, Portsmouth Emergency Communications received a phone call stating that a male suspect had threatened a group of people with a firearm near the property of 1001 Islington Street. It was reported that the male suspect threatened these people verbally while displaying a firearm from inside of an apartment.
There was initial phone contact with the suspect inside of the residence who refused to exit the apartment. Subsequent investigation lead to probable cause that the suspect inside the residence had committed the offense of Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon, a felony. Combined with the fact that a firearm was involved and the subject was refusing to exit the residence, the Seacoast Emergency Response Team was activated to assist Portsmouth Police.
At approximately 12:30 PM, phone contact with the suspect was established by crisis negotiators with the Seacoast Emergency Response Team. A short time later, the suspect exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries to any party. A subsequent search warrant was conducted and a firearm was recovered from inside the apartment.
The subject was identified as;
Nathan Strawbridge
Age 46
Portsmouth, NH
Mr. Strawbridge was held with no bail and arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21st at the Rockingham County Superior Court.
