Sign ups start Monday, June 3, 2024 for Portsmouth Residents and Mon, June 17 for non residents

Portsmouth Rec's fall soccer program is an instructional soccer leagues for boys and girls from preschool through fourth grade. All youth soccer games take place at the Recreation Field Athletic Field Complex on Campus Drive. Players will receive a t-shirt, soccer socks and shin guards.  We need volunteer coaches for all ages groups! Coaches will have the opportunity to attend a coach's clinic at the beginning of the season and be given outlines of skills focus for the week. Thank you to our league sponsor, Marshall Rental

USTA Tennis in the Parks

Tennis in the Parks - The tennis program where kids play while they learn!

Led by an approved USTA Net Generation tennis coach, the program will focus on developing the skills to serve, rally, and play - so it’s perfect for beginners and first-time players. This program uses modified tennis balls, age-appropriate rackets, court sizes, and the latest fun and engaging activities that help players successfully learn and play the game quicker!
All players in their first session receive and keep a new age-appropriate racquet, and tennis ball.

American Red Cross Swim Lessons

The Portsmouth Indoor Pool is proud to be a Gold Level Learn-to-Swim Provider with the American Red Cross. The pool offers lessons for infants through teens.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING - American Red Cross

Blended Learning Lifeguard Training
Course length: 19 hours, 30 minutes in-person and 7 hours 30 minutes online. Total - 27 hours
Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age: 15 years;
  • Swim 300 yards continuously;
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs;
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder.

To successfully complete the Lifeguarding Blended Learning course, the participant must:

  • Attend the entire course and participate in all class sessions.
  • Actively participate in all course activities, including assuming various roles during scenarios.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
  • Pass the final skills scenarios.
  • Complete all eLearning content, including the eLearning written exam (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers ;and First Aid).
  • Successfully pass final written exams with a minimum grade of 80 percent.

Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.

Open Gym at the Connie Bean Center

Open Swim at the Indoor Pool

All ages welcome! Great place for families and children to swim and play. (Children under 48" tall must be accompanied in the water by an adult.)

Tumble and Play Zone

Content

Parent supervised play time. Bring your toddler to run, play and tumble on the mats.
Location: Community Campus.
Saturdays through spring, 8:30-11:00am
FREE; no registration needed

Please note: Tumble and Play will end for the season on May 18. It will re-open in Fall 2025.
