City Plans Temporary Closure of Skate Park to Finalize Project

August 7, 2024

The City of Portsmouth announces the temporary closure of the Portsmouth Skate Park on Greenland Road, Monday August 12 through Thursday, August 15, 2024, to allow the contractor to complete a punch list of necessary final details for the project. The skate park will re-open for use on Friday morning, August 16. The lights will not be functional during the closure. Access to the Seacoast Greenway Trailhead will remain open.

The shutdown allows for appropriate drying time for caulking and painting and for the public's safety during construction-based activities at the park. The contractor plans to install additional drainage to address ponding issues that have developed in heavy rainstorms.

“This work must be completed while weather conditions allow and in a timely manner to wrap up the construction contract within the City’s budget timeline,” said Todd Henley, City of Portsmouth Recreation Director. "We are looking forward to many more prime hours of skating at the region’s best skate park, for all ages in the weeks, months and years to come.”
