ACTIVE SHOOTER EXERCISE - PEASE TRADEPORT

The Portsmouth Police Department in conjunction with the Portsmouth Fire Department, Newington Police Department, New Hampshire State Police, New Hampshire Department of Homeland Security/ Emergency Management and the United States Department of State announce that they will hold a full-scale training exercise on September 19, 2019 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The exercise will take place in and around the area of the National Visa Center and National Passport Center located on the Pease Tradeport.
The exercise will consist of two scenarios at the National Passport Center and National Visa Center. During the drill, onlookers may hear blank gun rounds, see heavy law enforcement and fire response personnel and vehicles, and see participants with mock injuries.
Due to the sensitive nature of the exercise, it will be closed to the media.
During the event, several roads around the Tradeport area will be closed. During the time of the exercise individuals traveling on the tradeport will find the following road closures:
- International Drive between Oak Avenue and New Hampshire Avenue
- Rochester Avenue between Somersworth Avenue and Lee Street.
Officers will be in place to redirect traffic during the duration of the exercise.
This exercise assists all first responders practice and assess their emergency response procedures as well as strengthen our close working relationships among local, state and federal partners.
