Criminal Threatening Arrest

On January 8, 2018, Detective Matthew Hester of the Portsmouth Police Department concluded an investigation of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon with the arrest of:
Michael Edwards
Age: 50
5 Melcher St. Apt. 1
Portsmouth, NH
On January 3, 2018, the victim reported to the Portsmouth Police Department that in the early morning hours of December 30th at approximately 1:36 AM, the victim was approached by Edwards in their residence located on Melcher St, and Edwards began a confrontation with the victim. During this confrontation Edwards pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened to kill the victim over a past debt.
Det. Matthew Hester was able to determine this was an isolated incident and the public was never in any danger. The weapon was recovered and Edwards was fully cooperative in the investigation. Edwards turned himself in on a warrant and was released on $5000.00 dollars personal recognizance bail. The charge being a Class B Felony will be handled through the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office Felonies First program.
