Shortly after midnight on March 5, 2018 Portsmouth Police and Fire Department’s responded to Lafayette Road near State Street Discount for a report of a single vehicle rollover crash with injuries.

Upon arrival the lone occupant of the vehicle was entrapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Portsmouth Fire Department. On scene investigation by responding officers determined that the subject was under the influence of alcohol. The subject was taken into custody and transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital by ambulance for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

According to witnesses at the scene the vehicle was travelling northbound on Lafayette Road when it crossed the center line into the southbound lane. The vehicle then swerved to the right striking several objects and rolling over. Witnesses report the vehicle rolling over four times.

The following subject was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Operating After Suspension;
