A History of Portsmouth in 101 Objects Speaker Series: Portsmouth's female leadership, Tuesday May 30

PNH400 Legacy Project A History of Portsmouth NH in 101 Objects hosts "Hey Lady, What’s Your Story?" on Tuesday, May 30, at 6:30 PM in the Levenson Room.

Calling Portsmouth women of all ages! We are blessed by a lineage of amazing women who built our beloved community. Join us for this lively evening where we’ll profile a few women from history and you’ll share your own stories of women’s leadership for the Portsmouth NH 400 archives.

ART EXHIBIT: Modern Tall Ships by Rebecca Klementovich, May 2 — June 1

Don't miss the exhibit of beautiful large-format paintings by local artist Rebecca Klementovich on display in the Levenson Community Room! These abstract works will be on display until June 1. You're invited to meet the artist at a public reception on Sunday, May 14 from 2  — 4 PM. Registration is not required and refreshments will be served. Find out more about the exhibit!

A historical epic inspired by true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Films at the library are open to the public and FREE. All films will feature subtitles where possible.

No registration is required. This is a drop-in event. Space is limited so arrive early to secure your seat. Refreshments will be served.

New Hampshire Scottish Music Club Concert, Saturday May 13

Join us for an afternoon of Scottish music, to enjoy toe-tapping reels and jigs, lively strathspeys and marches, and poignant slow airs performed by the skilled members of the New Hampshire Scottish Music Club. The group, founded in 1988 as the Strathspey and Reel Society of New Hampshire, aims to encourage the learning and preservation of traditional Scottish music. Though based in Concord, NH, the Society draws membership from Central New England.

Embroidery 201: Create Your Own Design, Tuesday May 9

Embroidery is a rewarding and affordable way to enhance your clothing and other belongings, an excellent gift to give in any season, and an interesting way to explore symbols and design motifs. Join in the long history of embroidery as a mode of self-expression in this two-week class.

Together we will gather inspiration, design our own patterns with abstract shapes or symbols from the natural world, learn stitches to make these designs a reality, and bring our ideas to fruition. Library staff will assist you along the way.

Guitar Sundays: William Ghezzi Offers a Classical Guitar Concert at PPL, Sunday May 7

Join us for a relaxing classical guitar concert by William Ghezzi. Mr. Ghezzi is back to perform for our Guitar Sundays music series which is co-hosted by the Portsmouth Public Library, Portsmouth Music and Arts Center, and sponsored by Service Credit Union. This event will be held at the Portsmouth Public Library, registration is not required, just drop by the library for this free concert.
