City Mosquito Control Program Monitoring Starts April 11, 2022
April 5, 2022The Mosquito Control Program begins monitoring on April 11, 2022 in the City of Portsmouth. Crews from Dragon Mosquito Control, Inc., the City’s contracted service, will be checking swamps, salt marshes, woodland pools, ditches, catch basins and other shallow, stagnant water for mosquito larvae.
When mosquito larvae are found, treatment may occur using one or more of the following:

April 4, 2022The City of Portsmouth Inspections Department is hosting a free training session on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 on Firestopping Concepts, Codes & Systems in building construction. Intended for contractors, developers, code officials and residents the session takes place in City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom from 9 am to 12 noon (check-in starts at 8 am). Advanced registration is required.

City of Portsmouth to Start Bridge Street Parking Lot Upgrade on April 11, 2022
March 31, 2022The City will start work on upgrades to the Bridge Street parking lot on April 11, with an estimated completion date in mid-May. The lot will be fenced off and closed during construction. The Bridge Street Lot work includes reconstruction of the paved area, handicapped accessibility upgrades, subsurface preparations that would allow for EV charging stations and landscaping.
City of Portsmouth to Conduct Routine Hydrant Flushing Starting April 11, 2022
March 28, 2022The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works Water Division begins its annual routine flushing of fire hydrants and water mains on Monday, April 11, 2022. The flushing will take place at various locations, Monday through Thursday, between 7 am and 11 pm, for the next six weeks.

On Thursday, March 24, 2022, the Board of Police Commissioners voted unanimously to promote Patrol Sergeant Seth Tondreault and Detective Sergeant Eric Benson to the rank of Lieutenant. Seth will remain in the Patrol Division while Eric will transition over to the Administrative Division as the department’s Personnel & Training Lieutenant.

Portsmouth City Clerk’s Office Now Issuing 2022 Annual Dog Licenses
March 23, 2022As required by State law, all dogs residing in the City of Portsmouth must be licensed. Dog licenses extend from April to April. The deadline is April 30, 2022.
