City Reopens Spinnaker Point Adult Fitness Center on June 7

Spinnaker Point Adult Fitness Center reopens on Monday, June 7 at 6am. All members and new members can register upon their first visit.

The City of Portsmouth closed Spinnaker Point a year ago as a precaution to protect against the spread of COVID-19. One of the concerns that needed to be addressed before reopening was an evaluation of the air circulation inside the facility.

Unattended Death Investigation

On May 26, 2021 at approximately 8:43 am, the Portsmouth Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to Feaster Apartments located at 140 Court Street for a well-being check on a female. On scene it was determined the female was deceased. The female was identified as 56-year old Deborah Miller.

Peirce Island Outdoor Pool Opens June 21 -- No Reservations Required

In agreement with guidance from Portsmouth City Manager Karen Conard and City Health Officer, the City Recreation Department will open the Peirce Island Outdoor Pool for the summer season, June 21 through August 20, 2021, with no reservations required. The pool will be open from 11 am to 6 pm, seven days a week. Only Portsmouth residents will be admitted, with a limited number at one time.

Motorcycle Accident with Injuries

May 28, 2021

On May 27, 2021, at approximately 10:27pm, the Portsmouth Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle accident on Middle Street in the area of Aldrich Road. Patrol Officers arrived on scene and determined a motorcycle travelling on Middle Street had collided with a parked vehicle in the area of 678 Middle Street.

City Raises Parking Fines to Encourage Better Compliance with Parking Ordinance

May 21, 2021

At the Third Reading on May 17 of the amendment to the City of Portsmouth Ordinance on parking penalties, the City Council voted to accept the recommendation of the Parking & Traffic Safety Committee (PTSC) to increase fines for four citation categories: session expired, parking in no parking area, parking during an emergency snow ban and parking in a commercial loading zone.

Portsmouth DPW Water Division Releases May 2021 Water Supply Status Report & Current Conditions

The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works Water Division released the latest Water Supply Status Report on May 10, providing an assessment of the water supply quantity and quality available through the Portsmouth Water System. Water use generally increases during the summer months as homeowners start outdoor projects and irrigation. At the same time, the water recharge from rainfall decreases in the summer. Since May 2020, precipitation on the Seacoast was 12 inches, or 28 percent below normal.
