Motor Vehicle Fatality
April 27, 2021On April 27, 2021 at 2:14pm, Portsmouth Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the intersection of Greenland Road and Griffin Road for a report of serious motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and motor carrier, commonly referred to as a tractor trailer. Prior to law enforcement arrival, we received updated information reporting one of the involved parties was unresponsive.
Arbor Day Foundation Award Tree Planting and Mayor’s Proclamation on April 30
April 26, 2021The Arbor Day Foundation has again named Portsmouth a Tree City USA and has awarded the Tree Growth Award to the City’s Department of Public Works parks and Greenery Division, led by arborists Corin Hallowell and Charles Baxter, along with the City's Trees and Greenery Committee.
City Hopes to Open Indoor Pool in September 2021
April 22, 2021As the City continues to monitor COVID-19 infection rates and the Governor’s guidelines covering assembly in indoor recreational spaces, plans are underway to make it possible to open the Indoor Pool in the early fall.

DWI Crash Arrest
April 20, 2021On April 17th, 2021 at 9:26 PM, Portsmouth Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to Bridge Street in Portsmouth for a report of a female subject who appeared to be intoxicated and it was believed she struck another party with her vehicle.
ParkMobile Advises Users of Security Breach
April 16, 2021The City of Portsmouth has just received notification that on March 26, ParkMobile, the app available to those who park in Portsmouth, became aware of a security breach in March linked to a vulnerability in ParkMobile's designers' software. In response, ParkMobile immediately launched an investigation with the assistance of a leading cybersecurity firm to address the incident. ParkMobile eliminated the third-party vulnerability, and continues to monitor their security and systems.
City of Portsmouth Prepares to Open Peirce Island Outdoor Pool on June 21
April 15, 2021At the City Manager’s direction, the Recreation Department and DPW have worked with City Health Officer Kim McNamara to make several adjustments to the Peirce Island Outdoor Pool and bathhouse facility to allow the pool to open, by reservation, for the summer season, June 21 through August 20, 2021. The pool will be open from 11 am to 6 pm, seven days a week.
Criminal Threatening, Reckless Conduct and Endangering the Welfare of a Child
April 15, 2021On April 13, 2021 at 11:57 pm, Portsmouth Police Patrol Officers were dispatched to a Ledgewood Drive apartment for the report of a person being threatened with a gun, which was subsequently fired by the suspect. Detectives processed the scene and determined two rounds had been fired that exited through the apartment window. Present in the room when the gun was fired was the victim and two minor children. No injuries were sustained by the victims. As a result of the investigation, the following individual was arrested:
