Elwyn Park Sidewalks
Design has begun in earnest in the Elwyn Area. The surveyors have finished their work and the City’s consulting engineer is preparing preliminary plans suitable for a public meeting which is planned for January 2025. Initial cost estimates indicate the project cost is significantly higher that currently budgeted, which will require the project to be implemented in phases. The area around the Dondero School will likely be Phase 1 with other sidewalks radiating out from there. The sidewalks and traffic calming features are being designed to be consistent with our consultant’s preliminary designs from 2020. Additional project information can be found at the City’s project webpage. The project is intended to provide safe pedestrian connections and traffic calming throughout the Elwyn Park Neighborhood. A feasibility study was completed using prior year Capital funding to identify priority streets within the neighborhood for addition of sidewalks and recommended traffic calming measures.
