Thurs 2/4 Parking Ban for Snow Load Out beginning at 7:30 p.m. on outlying streets
Effective from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1st, 2018, the Chief of Police will be invoking his emergency powers, prohibiting parking and vehicular travel on certain streets in the City due to the Annual Portsmouth Holiday Parade.
By signing up for Portsmouth’s CodeRED alerts, you can receive immediate alerts by text and/or email when there is an advanced warning for a snow emergency, a declared parking ban and when a parking ban has been terminated. When an advanced warning for a parking ban is declared, Portsmouth residents can park at the Hanover and Foundry Place garages at a special flat fee rate. From the time there is an advanced warning up until two hours after a parking ban has been terminated, it costs $5 to park at Hanover, and $3 to park at Foundry Place.
The City is opening their second parking garage at 100 Foundry Place on Halloween day, Wednesday, October 31st. To celebrate the grand opening, Mayor Blalock will join City staff and those involved in the project for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. After the ceremony, the garage gates will open to the public at 10 a.m., and will be free of cost to drivers for the entire day.
